Poprawczak nastroju

The best self-defence against reality

  • Text: Maria Kmita
  • Illustrations: Małgorzata Jasionek

Short texts you can read faster than you can get annoyed at anything. For Mondays, for the queue at the doctor’s and for all those days when reality goes a bit too far.

Short, juicy, satirical texts about the everyday problems of adult homo sapiens, accompanied by funny drawings by Małgorzata Jasionek. Improves your mood on working days and holidays alike. Teaches optimism and positive thinking.

Who is this book for

For adults who have lived through plenty of Mondays and know perfectly well that reality is rarely polite. For those who keep a straight face at work, in the queue and at family gatherings, while inside they feel like howling.

And for everyone who, on hearing “just think positive”, feels an irresistible urge to do something not very nice. You will not find advice like that here. You will find humour that really helps.

What is inside

Dozens of short, satirical texts about things you know all too well: work, neighbours, shopping, holidays, resolutions and why nothing ever works when it should.

Each text stands on its own, so you can read the book from the beginning, from the end or from the middle. They come with drawings by Małgorzata Jasionek, with whom I run Poprawczak Nastroju on Instagram — often they say more than the text next to them.

Why read it

Humour is not an escape from problems but a way of taming them. Research on humour and positive psychology says so, I say so in my trainings — and this book does the same, just without the training room and the flipchart.

It also makes a great gift: for someone tired, for someone who “has everything”, and for someone who is hard to buy for.

  • “After reading this book I still know that I know nothing, but somehow I feel lighter” – Socrates
  • “I am no longer sad, O Lord” – Juliusz Słowacki
  • “A book to lift the spirits. I recommend it overall, although it lacks descriptions of the steppes and the abduction of a maiden” – Henryk Sienkiewicz
  • “What radiant writing. I feel the chemistry!” – Maria Skłodowska-Curie
